Scutellaria bailcalensis 'BLBP 02' blooms from July to September with spikes of bright violet-blue flowers. The plants are strongly branched with a bushy habit. It looks lovely in flower beds and herb gardens. Attracts honey bees.
This strain is best known for its use in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). The valuable roots are high in baicalin. They are typically harvested after two years and may be used in teas. Drought tolerant. Hardy perennial in zones 4-8.
