Ratibida columnifera is a native wildflower with drooping, yellow petals surrounding a column-like center. It blooms for a long time from midsummer to fall. The flowers attract butterflies.

Yellow Mexican Hat looks great with other wildflowers and ornamental grasses. It's shown here with Catananche caerulea.

Ratibida columnifera blooms the first year from seed if started early indoors. Also known as Ratibida columnaris, Long-headed Coneflower, and Upright Prairie Coneflower. Self sows. Hardy perennial in zones 3-10.
