Penstemon attenuatus blooms in May with clusters of vivid blue flowers. It's the earliest species to bloom in my garden, and it's relatively easy to grow.
Penstemon attenuatus is very cute in the rock garden or at the front of the border. It thrives in ordinary garden conditions. Native to Washington and Idaho. Give 8 weeks cold-moist stratification. Hardy in zones 4-9.
