Ipomopsis aggregata is a biennial wildflower with trumpet-shaped, scarlet-red flowers in June and July. It is native to western North America. The flowers attract hummingbirds.
In the first year, Scarlet Gilia forms a taproot and a basal rosette of finely dissected leaves. It blooms in the second year with spikes of showy flowers. It is especially nice in well-drained rock gardens.
Also known as Skyrocket and Trumpet Gilia. It tolerates drought and poor soil. Hardy in zones 5-9.
