Helichrysum bracteatum blooms in late summer to fall in shades of pink, red, yellow, orange and white. Popular for fresh or dried cut flower arrangements.

Strawflower is a fun choice for a child's garden. When my daughter was young, she loved to collect these flowers for crafts. They last forever. Cut the stems when the flowers are partially open, and hang the bunches upside down to dry in a dark place to preserve the color. They will continue to open as they dry.

Helichrysum bracteatum is native to Australia. It was a popular garden plant in Europe in the 1800's. Also known as Paper Daisy, Everlasting, and Immortelle.

Helichrysum bracteatum tolerates drought and poor soil. Pinch out the tips for bushier plants. Easy to grow.
