Allium giganteum has large balls of bright purple flowers on tall stems. It's one of the first alliums to bloom in late May to June.
Allium giganteum is useful in many places in the garden. Mine is planted near the house foundation. It looks lovely with Salvia 'Rose Rhapsody', which blooms at the same time.
Hardy perennial in zones 4-9. Requires cold-moist stratification.

Sowing Allium giganteum Seeds
Sow allium seeds outdoors in a pot in late fall or winter. Barely cover the seeds. Keep in a cold place until spring. Full sun.
