Agastache rupestris 'Apache Sunset' is one of the best hummingbird flowers I've ever grown. The large, bushy plants have gray-green, licorice-scented leaves and tall stems of coral-orange, tubular flowers with purple calyxes. It's like having a giant hummingbird feeder in the garden.

Agastache 'Apache Sunset' is a first-year flowering perennial. It blooms in about 16 weeks from seed, so it can be grown as an annual in colder zones. Established plants bloom from midsummer to fall.

Agastache rupestris is one of the longest-lived and hardiest agastache species. It survives in my zone 5 garden when given a warm location with well-drained soil in full sun. It is deer resistant and drought tolerant. What more can you ask for?

Also known as Sunset Hyssop and Licorice Hummingbird Mint. Native to the southwestern United States. Hardy in zones 5-10.
