Tomato 'Brown Sugar'

Tomato 'Brown Sugar': Early production...beautiful color...delicious flavor. This is one nice tomato. Brown Sugar produces lots of medium-size, round, purple-brown fruits. The dark red interior has a rich flavor with none of that muddy taste that is the bane of some black tomatoes. It is more sweet than tangy, but not overly sweet.

Tomato 'Brown Sugar' is a commercial Russian variety. It was first introduced to the U.S. by Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.

Sowing Tomato 'Brown Sugar' Seeds

Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 1/8" deep. Place the pots in a warm spot to speed germination. The most common causes of poor germination are cold temperatures and burying the seeds too deeply.

Transplant outside when all danger of frost is past. Bury the stem up to the first set of true leaves (tomatoes root along the stem). Full sun. Spacing 30-36". Provide a large tomato cage for support.
