Papaver bracteatum is the most spectacular of all poppies. The huge, 6-8" flowers bloom on sturdy stems that grow to 4 feet tall. The scarlet-red petals are marked with a black blotch at the base.

Papaver bracteatum blooms in late spring to early summer. It looks stunning with Bearded Iris, Lupine 'Russell Hybrids' and Hesperis matronalis 'Alba'.

Also known as Great Red Poppy. Deer resistant. Hardy perennial in zones 4-8.
