Mbombo bean is a beautiful heirloom from Kenya, Africa. The 5" green pods have an old-fashioned bean flavor that we love. They quickly mature into dry beans in lovely shades of green. Perfect for soups and stews. The semi-pole vines grow 5-6' tall and require some support. Very productive. Also known as Mbombo Green bean. It is named after the creator god of the African Kuba tribe.

Cherokee Trail of Tears produces 5" long green beans. Not stringless, but very tasty. The shiny black seeds are good for soup. Saved by Dr. John Wyche, whose Cherokee ancestors brought it with them on the Trail of Tears in 1838.

Purple Podded Pole bean is one of the most beautiful and vigorous snap beans we've ever grown. The 6' vines produce lots of delicious beans that ripen from green to purple. They are tender and stringless when young. The purple color makes them easy to spot among the vines. Lovely purple flowers, too! This Ozark mountains heirloom was introduced by Henry Field in the 1930's.
Legend has it that Turkey Craw bean was found in a wild turkey's craw. The 6" pods are stringless, and they are good for fresh eating, canning and freezing. The brown and tan-flecked seeds are good for soups. Best grown in the south.

Gold of Bacau is the most tender and delicious snap bean we've ever grown. The wide, flat, Romano-style pods are a soft yellow color. They are stringless when young. Moderate productivity. Bean 'Gold Nectar'

Gold Nectar is a yellow wax bean with 9" long pods. The semi-flat pods are light greenish-yellow. It is quite productive, and the flavor is excellent. We got our original seeds from Adaptive Seeds, who obtained their seeds from a seed swap in Belgium. This is a very rare variety. The plants are slow to dry their seeds, so our supply is limited. The long vines require a trellis.

Chinese Green Noodle is the first long bean we tried, and we are crazy about it! The beans can grow up to a yard long, but they should be picked at around a foot long, while still young and tender. Check them every day so they don't get away from you! The plants are highly productive. Just a few plants kept us picking almost daily until hard frost. Versatile and tasty in many different recipes.
