Swiss chard 'Barese' is an early-maturing, compact variety that has thick leaves with a buttery texture and sweet, nutty flavor. Delicious as both baby and mature greens, this is our top choice for flavor.

Barese Swiss chard is an heirloom variety from southeastern Italy named after the port city of Bari in the Puglia region. It is known by the locals as Cicla di Bari.

Sowing Swiss Chard Seeds

Sow Swiss chard seeds outdoors in mid spring, 1/2" deep and 3" apart. Thin to 10" apart. Full sun to light shade.
