Silene orientalis

Silene orientalis blooms in early summer with clusters of hot pink flowers on top of narrow stems. It's a rare plant, but easy to grow.

Silene orientalis is a biennial or short-lived perennial that self-sows where it is happy. Mine has spread itself around the garden, where it looks great with the other June-blooming perennials and annuals. Hardy in zones 4-8.

Sowing Silene orientalis Seeds

Start Silene seeds indoors 8 weeks before the last frost date. Barely cover the seeds with soil. Full sun to part shade.
