Violet Queen salvia blooms the first year if started early indoors. It goes with nearly everything in the garden. It is a nice companion plant for roses. It self-sows, but not in excess. Drought tolerant and easy to grow.
Also known as Meadow Sage, Woodland Sage, Salvia x superba, Salvia x sylvestris, and Salvia nemerosa 'East Friesland' or 'West Friesland'. Deer resistant. Hardy perennial in zones 4-8.
