Cucumber 'Long Green Improved'
65 days, Cucumis sativus
$3.00
30 seeds
Long Green Improved cucumber is my personal favorite. It is tender and delicious with a mild old-fashioned flavor and fine texture. It makes a wonderful slicer, but it can also be used for pickling. The dark green fruits are 10-12" long and 2-3" wide. No bitterness.
This heirloom cucumber was introduced in 1842, and it quickly became the most popular variety on the market.
Sowing Cucumber Seeds
Sow cucumber seeds outdoors after the last frost date, 1/2" deep. Or start indoors 3 weeks early. Space plants 15 inches apart in rows spaced 4 feet apart. Or grow in hills spaced 4-6 feet apart, with 3 plants per hill. Full sun.
Home-grown seeds.
