Amaranth 'Elephant Head'

Amaranth 'Elephant Head' is an heirloom variety with large heads of tightly knit flowers in the shape of an elephant's head with a long trunk. When you see it, you just have to pet it! Edible leaves and black seeds.

Elephant Head amaranth makes a wonderful addition to the fall garden. Leave the plants standing into winter for structural interest. They will self sow.

Sow amaranth seeds outdoors around the last frost date. Or start indoors 4 weeks early. Barely cover the seeds with soil. Thin to 15" apart. Full sun.
