Catananche caerulea is a first-year flowering perennial with gray-green foliage and lilac-blue flowers on tall, wiry stems. It blooms from July to September.

Catananche caerulea makes a nice addition to the cottage garden or wildflower garden. I like to combine it with Ratibida columnifera. The flowers attract bees and butterflies. They also make good cut flowers.

Cupid's Dart is native to Southwestern Europe. It was used by the Greeks as an aphrodisiac. The Latin name basically means "magical love herb."

Catanche caerulea is drought tolerant and deer resistant. Hardy in zones 4-9.
