My mom enjoys selling this unique tomato at the farmer's market. The yellow fruits with green and gold speckles are crack-resistant and pretty as can be. I mainly use it for its photogenic properties in my tomato pictures. I thought the skin was a bit tough (that would explain its crack resistance), and the texture was on the mushy side. However, the flavor is pleasant -- mildly sweet and tangy. When the fruits are fully ripe, they develop a translucent look, which is fascinating.
Topaz is a very heavy producer of 1-3 oz. fruits. It comes from China, where it is called Huan U. Try it with its companion, Violet Jasper.
