Tomato 'Riesentraube'
Heirloom Tomato 'Riesentraube'

The name of this tomato means "giant bunch  of grapes". The plants produce large clusters of 1" wide tomatoes with a pointy tip. The flavor is not very strong, but rich and tomatoey.

Riesentraube was grown in this country as early as 1856 by the Pennsylvania Dutch. In 100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden, Dr. Carolyn Male says, "If there is   one tomato that absolutely must be grown by heirloom aficionados, Riesentraube is it."
