These large, red tomatoes have a wonderful, full-bodied flavor. They weigh 10-16 ounces and are usually crack free. Tomato expert, Carolyn Male, regards this tomato very highly. She says, "Attracted as I was by the plant's overall vigor, I was even more bowled over by the appearance and taste of the fruits."
Aker's West Virginia is a family heirloom from Carl Aker of Pennsylvania. It originally came from West Virginia. This variety was rather late in my zone 5 garden. It's better suited for the south.
