Prairie dropseed forms a short, rounded mound of fine, green leaves topped with airy stems of delicate flowers in late summer to fall.
Sporobolus heterolepsis is lovely at the front of the border. It makes a good edging or grouping. It tolerates a wide range of conditions from moderately dry to moist soil, full sun to part shade. Hardy in zones 3-8. Store seeds in the fridge until time to plant.
