Scutellaria resinosa is a rare perennial. It forms a small mound of green stems covered with vivid blue flowers with white markings.
Scutellaria resinosa is very drought tolerant. It's perfect for the rock garden or any spot with good drainage. Mine is planted along the edge of the driveway. It seems to enjoy the extra heat. The plants are not always long-lived, but they self sow just enough to keep coming back. Scutellaria resinosa blooms all summer long. It even blooms the first year from seed, if started early indoors. Also known as Prairie Skullcap. Hardy perennial in zones 4-9.
