Cream pincushions make a nice filler in the wildflower garden. The small flowers bloom on tall, wiry stems, and they attract butterflies.
Scabiosa ochroleuca blooms the first year from seed if started early indoors, and it looks great with ornamental grasses and other wildflowers like ratibida and purple coneflower. Hardy in zones 4-9. Self-sows. Also known as Pincushion Flower and Yellow Scabiosa.
