Years ago, I planted a mixture of different colored scabiosa. The only one that has continued to self sow in my garden is this beautiful, pure white. These annual flowers are larger than perennial scabiosa. They bloom on tall stems from midsummer onward, attracting butterflies to the garden.
It is possible that you could end up with a purple-flowered plant from these seeds. If so, consider it a bonus. I'm happy with the white because it looks so nice with everything in the garden. In the north, start the seeds early indoors to insure that they have enough time to bloom and self sow before fall.
Other common names include Sweet Scabious and Mourning Bride.
