I like this pepper because it is so productive that I can fill my freezer with bags of frozen chopped peppers to use all winter. The large fruits grow at least 4" long with a blocky shape. In long-summer areas they ripen to red, but they're also good in the green stage, which is as far as they get in my zone 5 garden.
Chinese Giant pepper was introduced by Burpee seed company in 1900.
