This tall annual has long, tubular-shaped, white flowers that droop downward in a candelabra style. The huge, green leaves are impressive. There is a light, sweet fragrance in the evening that may be detected from several feet away.
In Color in the Garden, Nori and Sandra Pope say, "Nicotiana sylvestris is surely the most elegant of the tobacco family." They pair it with Verbena bonariensis. Nicotiana is hardy in zones 10-11. Grow it as an annual elsewhere. Also known as Night Scented Tobacco or Woodland Tobacco.
