Knautia macedonica - Crimson Scabious

Knautia is a lovely and versatile perennial. It has gray-green leaves and tall, wiry stems of pincushion-style flowers in a deep shade of purplish-red. The flowers attract butterflies.

Knautia macedonica blooms from late spring to fall. It makes a nice filler between large shrubs and ornamental grasses. The plants grow thickly, forming a spreading patch that keeps down weeds.
