Heirloom Garden Kale 'Red Russian'
(Brassica oleracea)

Red Russian Kale has blue-green leaves with red veins. This tender variety is sweeter when harvested in the fall after a light frost. I think this is the best-tasting variety.

Our favorite recipe is steamed kale tossed with a mixture of roasted garlic, butter and lemon juice with a dash of salt. Kale can also be stir-fried or added to soups during the last five minutes of cooking time.
