Scarlet gilia has long, narrow, trumpet-shaped flowers in a shade of orange-red that humming-birds go crazy for. The well-branched plants bloom in mid summer.

Ipomopsis aggregata is a biennial. In the first year, the plants make small, basal rosettes of attractive, silvery-green leaves. They bloom profusely the second year. Needs well-drained soil. Hardy in zones 4-10.
