Coral Bells, Coralbells, Alumroot
(Heuchera sanguinea 'Ruby Bells')
Heuchera 'Ruby Bells' blooms in early summer with ruby-red, bell-shaped flowers on slender stems. This variety has darker red flowers and a more compact habit than the older 'Splendens'. It also blooms longer. This is a great flower for hummingbirds. Hardy in zones 3-9.
Heuchera sanguinea prefers moist, well-drained soil. But it can tolerate drier conditions when planted in part shade. The attractively scalloped leaves are semi-evergreen. Try this lovely plant with yellow foxglove and dwarf Jacob's ladder.
