Carnation 'King of the Blacks' blooms in summer with double, reddish-purple flowers that are dark enough to appear black from a distance.
Also known as Carnation 'Grenadin King of Blacks'. This is a selection from the Grenadin Mix. Carnations are very fragrant, and they make good cut flowers.
Dianthus caryophyllus 'King of Blacks' is a biennial or short-lived perennial. Drought tolerant. Hardy in zones 5-10.
Sowing Carnation 'King of Blacks' Seeds
Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Barely cover with soil. Full sun. Well-drained soil. Spacing 15".
