Amaranth 'Early Splendor'
(Amaranthus tricolor, A. gangeticus)
This stunning amaranth is grown for its bright, burgundy-red leaves. The leaves are edible, but they also make great "cut flowers". Amaranth makes a nice addition to the annual garden.
Amaranthus tricolor has many common names, including Summer Poinsettia, Joseph's Coat, Chinese Spinach, and Vegetable Amaranth. 'Early Splendor' has better coloring than the similar variety, 'Molten Fire'.
