(Aconitum napellus)
A relative of delphinium, monkshood blooms in mid to late summer with tall spikes of purplish-blue flowers that are shaped like little hoods.
Aconitum napellus is stunning in a woodland garden or a partly-shaded perennial garden with lilies and other mid-summer flowers. Hardy in zones 4-8.
Wear gloves and use caution when handling this plant. All parts are extremely poisonous.

Sowing Aconitum Seeds:
Sow indoors in winter. Barely cover the seeds, then refrigerate for 6 weeks. Or sow in a cold frame in fall or winter. Part shade. Cool, moist, well-drained soil. Plants and seeds are poisonous.
